Fujifilm FinePix S100FS named “Best Superzoom Digital Camera” in TIPA Awards 2008

April 24, 2008

Fujifilm’s new flagship ‘bridge’ camera, the FinePix S100FS, has received critical acclaim in Europe. Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) voted the FinePix S100FS the ‘Best Superzoom Digital Camera’ at the TIPA Awards 2008, and praised the camera for its wealth of features, including the impressive 28-400mm zoom lens (35mm equivalent) and Film Simulation modes. The hotly contested TIPA awards are widely regarded as the European ‘Oscars’ of the photo and imaging industry.

The FinePix S100FS builds upon the hugely popular ‘S’ series compact bridge cameras, such as the FinePix S9600, to offer the very best in image quality combined with the versatility of a DSLR camera.

TIPA judges were impressed by the technology packed into the FinePix S100FS. Like its bigger brother, the FinePix S5 Pro, the FinePix S100FS features Film Simulation modes, such as Velvia and Provia, and Wide Dynamic Range from 100% to 400%. Its eight generation Super CCD sensor boasts 11.1 megapixels and a huge, optically stabilised 28-400mm Fujinon lens covers a wide variety of photographic subjects. The FinePix S100FS provides an all-in-one solution for photo enthusiasts and advanced amateur photographers seeking the manual controls and functionality of a DSLR without the bulk, hassle and expense of additional lenses.

In a statement from the judges, explaining why they chose the FinePix S100FS as Best Superzoom Digital Camera of 2008, they commented: “The S100FS is a ‘bridge’ camera that offers a number of features found on the Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro D-SLR. Its eighth generation Super CCD sensor boasts 11.1 million pixels, and full manual control is easy to achieve for photographers who like to take charge of their exposures. With an optically-stabilized 28-400mm f/2.8-5.3 lens, the S100FS offers a huge zoom range that covers all general photography subjects, and the 2.5-inch screen that can be titled to provide the optimum viewing angle for composition. The camera’ Film Simulation modes emulate the contrast and saturation of Velvia and Provia emulsions, and there’s a RAW format for the discerning enthusiast wanting to create the look and feel of their images from scratch.”
